The
sauna has been a part of the American Indians, Japanese and European way
of life for over 2,000 years.
This
age old tradition provides the following range of therapeutic benefits:
|
Increases and
strengthens the immunity system. |
|
Deep, total body
cleansing and detoxification. |
|
Increases circulation. |
|
Improves heart
circulation. |
|
Has a positive
effect on the arteries. |
|
Releases heavy
metals from the body. |
|
Reduces colds
and flu. |
|
Relieves chronic
respiratory conditions system such as hay fever, asthma and bronchitis. |
|
Helps regulate
high blood pressure. |
|
Reduces muscle
tension and pain. |
|
Has a beneficial
effect on arthritis and rheumatism. |
|
Relieves stress. |
|
Improves sleep. |
|
Has a balancing
effect on the psyche and emotions. |
|
Provides younger
looking skin through better nourishment from within and accelerates
the healing of acne and similar skin problems. |
IMPROVES
BLOOD CIRCULATION
Increased circulation carries off metabolic waste products and provides
aching and tired muscles with more oxygen. Saunas and steam baths provide
the best way to deeply cleanse the skin.
Regular
baths increase circulation which encourages a healthy flow of nutrients
to the skin enhancing its tone, texture and colour. Active perspiration
cleanses in depth the dirt from the deepest pores of the skin, flushing
out embedded dirt and bacteria.
Applying
cold water to the skin immediately after the sauna or steam activates
the elasticity of the skin to maintain a fresh and beautiful skin.
ELIMINATES
TOXINS FROM THE BODY
Sauna and steam baths play a major role in eliminating toxins such
as alcohol, nicotine, cholesterol, sodium and potentially carcinogenic
heavy metals including cadmium, lead, zinc and nickel. Such toxins accumulated
in the system are normally removed from the body through perspiration.
Saunas
and steam baths increase the bodys detoxifying and cleansing capacity
by stimulating the sweat glands.
INCREASES
RESISTANCE
Saunas create a fever reaction which can kill viruses and bacteria
and increase the number of white blood cells which strengthens the immunity
system important for increasing resistance to infections and viruses.
High temperature during infection helps combat the growth of viruses.
Many
doctors believe this Artificially induced fever can have great potential
in the prevention of many diseases, including cancer.
RELAXES AND SOOTHES MUSCLES
The saunas deep penetrating heat provides an overall massaging effect
which reduces tension and increases muscle flexibility and soothes tired
and aching muscles. This allows the release of tension and stress which
enhances general well being.
RESEARCH
AND DEVELOPMENT
Saunair has researched the construction and health benefits of herbal
steam filters and infusion. The specific benefits of their use in detoxification
and the effects on general well being were studied for over 5 years. It
is of utmost importance that the equipment in saunas and steam rooms does
not produce any toxicity. All Saunair equipment is manufactured from quality
marine grade stainless steel which prevents the equipment from deteriorating
and eliminating any harmful toxins which materialise under heat.
In
January 1995 the University of Sydney selected a Saunair manufactured
sauna heater and steam generator to carry out a research project at the
Equine Performance Laboratory. Our equipment was chosen due to its "toxic
free" qualities, particularly with steam as we purify the water entering
the steam machine through a water purifying system and do not add any
chemicals to soften the water.
Dr
Joachim G. Fluhrer B.S. (Syd), a Doctor in Biological and Environmental
Medicine runs the largest clinic from Manly Waters Private Hospital has
recommended Saunair steam detoxification treatment for a number of his
patients. Saunair works with a number of doctors in the field of detoxification
and works closely with the Chinese Ginseng and Herb Company enabling us
to prepare a comprehensive list of herbal treatments through our Herbal
Steam Filter. Eucalyptus, tea tree and many other oils may be used in
the herbal steam infusion.
The
Saunair Herbal Steam Filter relieves the symptoms of colds, sinus congestion
and other respiratory ailments or allergies, poor circulation, tension
headache and acne (as heat softens the oil plugs that block skin pores).
A
three year program of research at the National Institute of Nutrition
Laboratories, Japan has clearly demonstrated that heavy metals such as
cadmium and lead can be secreted in large quantities in perspiration.
"I
and a team of researchers constructed a small cubicle of plastic sheeting
by means of which we researched and analysed the types and quantities
of metals eliminated in perspiration when the temperature was raised from
30oC to 40oC. We compared these results with the
contents of perspiration under direct sunlight. The results clearly showed
that when perspiration literally drips off the body lead and cadmium can
be eliminated in larger quantities than through urine. Perspiration plays
a natural role in regulating the density of heavy metals in the body.
Perspiration is good for health and our bodies need to perspire freely
for 1 hour a day."
Dr
Kazumasa Suzuki M.D. is a graduate of the Tokyo University of Science
and has carried out research in zoology at Milan University, Italy. He
is presently chief of pathology and nutrition at the National Institute
of Nutrition Laboratories, Japan.
In
recent medical studies, the doctors state that if you keep your body temperature
to 40oC for a period of time, you may destroy cancer cells.
THE
NECESSITY FOR PERSPIRATION
Perspiration
is essential in regulating the temperature of the body, and it also has
the function of eliminating wastes that cannot be treated by the kidneys
and have accumulated in the body. The latter is important in maintaining
good health. Briefly speaking, wastes are filtered through the kidneys
and then discharged in the form of urine. The kidneys purify the blood
by filtering about 2,000 litres (the equivalent of about 10 oil drums)
of blood per day. When the wastes in the blood increase, then the load
on the kidneys rises and this is where perspiration plays a necessary
and important role.
